Sequim is also famously located in the Olympic Rain Shadow, meaning the town receives significantly less rainfall than most places in Western Washington. In the summer, Sequim becomes the center of another iconic celebration, the Sequim Lavender Festival. Known as the Lavender Capital of North America, the town welcomes thousands of visitors each year to experience blooming lavender fields, artisan markets, farm tours, and live entertainment. These festivals, along with farmers markets and seasonal events, create a vibrant community atmosphere that makes Sequim feel welcoming, lively, and connected year-round.

The community feel is especially evident at the Sequim Farmers & Artisans Market, where shoppers can browse produce, flowers, handmade goods, and other locally crafted products while connecting directly with farmers and makers. The market features more than 65 local vendors, and official tourism information notes that it runs on Saturdays from May through October, making it a favorite seasonal tradition for both residents and visitors. 

 From a relaxed coffee stop downtown to an afternoon spent shopping, dining, and strolling the market, Sequim offers the kind of local character that makes everyday living feel connected and enjoyable.
